Blog 7: GPOY (Free Photos of oneself)

Imagen
Hello everyone, welcome back to my blog! Today I am going to show you a GPOY (Free Photos of oneself) and also tell you the story behind this photograph.  Tower Water - Pichidangui. This picture was taken on January 18th 2020, during a trip we took with my friend Renata to Pichidangui after taking the University Selection Test (PSU). That trip was very entertaining because at first only Renata and I were traveling, but my cousin Vicente joined us unexpectedly before the trip. The stay in Pichidangui was also very exciting, because we met new friends and new places. I always show this picture to my friends because it brings me back very happy memories of when we illegally climbed the Pichidangui water tower so we could see the sunrise (don't tell this to the police). Getting to the top of the water tower was quite a challenge, because we had to go through big bushes, rocks and stairs in bad conditions. But when we got there we could see a beautiful view, where we were able apprecia

Blog 6: Postgraduate Studies

Imagen
For some years now I have had the dream of studying abroad, in fact when I was in my last year of school I had the idea of going to Mexico to study Anthropology, however I realized that I still felt too small to be so far away from my family. From the above, I reformulated my dream of studying abroad and now I would like to be able to do a postgraduate degree in Mexico City or Barcelona, since they are two cities that call my attention for their cultures and culinary tradition hehehe. Picture of Universidad Nacional of México. I must say that, although I am quite sure about the idea of doing a postgraduate degree abroad, I am still not very sure about the topic I would like to study, since I am passionate about several areas of the degree I studied (Anthropology), such as: studies on culture and identity, gender studies and studies associated with linguistics.  On the other hand, I also have the idea of specializing in other areas outside anthropology, since I am very passionate about

Blog 5: My Future Job

Imagen
Throughout my life I have been interested in multiple professions, as a child I wanted to be famous and a singer, in fact I wrote a song of which I still remember the lyrics and melody. When I turned 10 years old, I wanted to study graphic design and occupational therapy, for the sole reason that the names sounded interesting. When I reached pre-adolescence I began to realize my greatest interest in the area of arts and humanities, and since then I knew that I would not have a conventional job.  Thus, as I grew older I realized that I really enjoyed writing and working with people, so in the last years I imagined myself working outdoors getting to know different social groups, but also writing about them or any topic I found interesting. On the other hand, something that has always been clear to me is that I would like to be able to travel with my job, since I love to get to know new places, cultures and people. It is precisely for this reason, and many others, that I decided to study

A Meal or Food I Really Like: Congrí cubano.

Imagen
Today I am going to tell you about a meal that I enjoy very much. Before I tell you about this meal, I must tell you that it was very difficult to choose just one meal, because I really enjoy tasty and homemade food. The food I am going to tell you about is called Congrí and it is a meal that is served for lunch and dinner in Cuba. Congrí is a preparation of rice and black beans mixed together, which are accompanied by a sofrito made with paprika (hopefully red to make a contrast of flavors and colors), garlic and the traditional condiment of Cuban food: whole cumin.  Picture of Congrí cubano. To prepare the Congrí, the black beans must be soaked the night before preparing the meal. Once the beans are soaked, the sofrito is made with the mentioned ingredients and on that base the rice is poured into the pot. To cook the rice, pour the water used to soak the black beans and wait until the rice has a nice texture to eat it.  Once this last step is done, the Congrí is ready to enjoy! I li

Blog 3: The Cringe

Imagen
Looking back in my life I feel like I've had several events where I've felt a lot of cringe, but for some reason when I'm asked about these moments I never remember.  The first memory that I feel super embarrassed about happened when I was 4 or 5 years old. In those remote times I had aspirations of being a famous singer and my biggest idol was Hannah Montana, so I always practiced her songs feeling like a goddess of Olympus. One day after much practice, I decided to show this talent to my dad and his wife by singing a Hannah Montana song. At that moment I felt fabulous singing and my dad reacted by asking his wife, "Did you turn on the radio, because I thought I heard a professional singer?", that question only made me more confident in my future career as an artist. However, looking back I remember that I never sang well or had a good command of English, so I think my performance may not have been as good as my dad claimed and that he may have made a white lie t

Blog 2: The best holidays ever

Imagen
The best vacation of my life was in December 2019 in Mexico City with my mom. This vacation was very special for me, because it lasted two weeks and allowed me to get to know the giant capital of Mexico. Picture of me at Frida Kahlo's house💙 On this trip I got to know places like "El Zócalo", which corresponds to the center of Mexico City, Teotihuacan, the Frida Kahlo and Leon Trotsky museums located in Coyoacan, the Museum of Fine Arts and Puebla.  Picture of Teotihuacan  I have many reasons to say that this has been the best vacation of my life, but one of the strongest reasons is that before embarking on the trip I had recently graduated from school and had a dream of studying Anthropology. I knew that Mexico was a country where great anthropological studies were being developed, so I was very excited to get to know this country. Also when I arrived in Mexico City I was fascinated with the accent of the people, their culture and food, although after a week I got sick

Blog 1: A country I would like to visit

Imagen
A country I would like to visit again is Cuba, because most of my family and friends live there and I miss them, and also because I feel it is a magical place because of the social atmosphere, since people are very talkative and educated about many topics, so it is very common to stay talking to anyone while drinking coffee and mojito. Picture of Havana Vieja. Cuba is an island located in Central America and it's known to be very   controversial for being politically organized by a communist regime. This fact makes it very interesting to know Cuba, because it allows to understand that capitalism is not the only option in a economic system.  I would like to visit Cuba for a longer period of time  to get to know of the cubans people  and also to visit different cities that call my attention, such as Santiago de Cuba, Pinar del Rio or Nueva Gerona. I must confess that one of my life dreams is to one day work at the University of Havana as an anthropologist and to eat black beans and c
